 A truly affordable four star option, the Hotel Alkyon offers a tantalising combination of four star quality, convenient location and terrific value. A' class Hotel Alkyon is just renovated (year 2009).
Perched on a ridge above the town, the views from the hotel art stunning, and the walk down into the town itself takes about ten minutes of course. Mykonos being what it is, though (ie hilly), the walk back home will take approximately 20 minutes, and while this shouldn't prove any problem at all for most of you, the disabled and elderly might prefer to look elsewhere.
Officially rated as an A-class hotel, the gleaming, low rise Alkyon has 27 comfortable rooms. All have an ensuite bathroom, satellite TV, a balcony or terrace, remote control air conditioning, a phone, a small fridge and a safety deposit box for rent.
Most rooms have sea views, but some don't, so please try to book early if your view is important to you. Sea view room requests, are dealt with on a first come, first served basis, so the earlier you book, the more likely you are to get what you're looking for. Incidentally, this also applies to double beds: always the first to go, probably because most people don't want to fall down the gap between two single beds if things start to get a bit energetic. If you do get your request granted, there's no extra supplement to pay.
The Alkyon, like so many Myconian establishments, is family run and the atmosphere is relaxed, chilled and unintrusive. The focus of the hotel is undoubtedly the large pool and its surrounding sunterraces, which afford uninterrupted views over the town and down to the sea. Sunbeds and parasols - all replaced in 2009 - are provided free of charge.
Breakfast is included in your holiday price and this is served on the small outdoor dining terrace or indoors if you prefer. Maid service happens daily (towel change too) and your bedlinen will be replaced three times a week.
