The unique atmosphere, attractive surroundings and terrific value-for-money of the Los Almendros are just some of the reasons why this famed all-gay complex has become the number one holiday choice for thousands of travelers down the years. Located in the heart of Playa del Ingles, across the road from the Cita Center and just an easy ten minute stroll to the Yumbo or the beach, Los Almendros is undoubtedly THE place to be for the discerning homo-holidaymaker.
Muscle Marys, drag queens, twinks and bears all make Los Almendros their base for their regular Gran Canaria pilgrimages, and while Los Almendros is right at the heart of the gay scene, that's not to say that its prime location doesn't allow for some serious relaxation. This is a place where you really can be yourself and whether you're travelling on your own, as a couple or as a group of mates, you won't find a better location to while away the hours.
Los Almendros has everything you need to make a good holiday great. The large swimming pool is surrounded by ample sun terraces (enough sunbeds for everyone) and there's no problem sunbathing starkers if that's your thing.
There's a bar open from breakfast till late and a restaurant serving everything from bar snacks to full-on, three course meals. The Jacuzzi, heated in Winter, has always been one of the complex's most popular features and secluded landscaped lawns allow you to sneak away for a bit of no-holds-barred 'me time' should you feel the need to clear your mind and concentrate on the serious business of perfecting your tan.
Reception is open until 8pm every day except Thursdays, and it's here where you can pay for your TV and safe rental and sort out the refundable deposit for your air-con remote control. And if you're one of those people who can't leave the country without your laptop, wi-fi is available around the pool and close to reception.
If you're as partial as we are to a bit of cheeky nudity, you'll be thrilled to know that there's absolutely no problem with nude sunbathing, especially if you've got a huge willy (guys) or especially pert bosoms (gals)! Only joking, the human body in all its forms is a beautiful thing and we don't believe in media-generated, unattainable stereotypes. Well, that's our excuse for being overweight, balding and saggy, anyway!
Los Almendros comprises 33 air-conditioned one bedroom bungalows, all of which feature a bedroom (odd numbers have a queen-sized double bed, evens have twins), a living room with a sofabed, and a kitchenette with a fridge, a couple of cooking rings, coffee maker, kettle and a stock of utensils sufficient for a self catering holiday. We've provided irons and an ironing board in every bungalow so you can maintain your gorgeousness at all times and there's a telly in the living room and the bedroom (porn available on a pay-per-view basis).
Every bungalow has its own furnished patio at the front and, if you choose to pay a small supplement for poolside accommodation, this is a great vantage point for the more sociable (or should that be nosey?) to keep an eye on the comings and goings of your fellow guests.
As well a the bungalows, Los Almendros features just one studio. This overlooks the pool and Jacuzzi and is designed for one person only with a combined living/sleeping area (like a hotel room) plus a kitchenette, bathroom and patio.
The lovely Los Almendros maids will clean your bungalow five times a week, change your towels three times a week and replace your bedlinen once.
