 Welcome to the newly renovated Hostal La Marina, ideally located in the heart of Ibiza Town's world famous port area, offering a variety of stylishly decorated rooms at prices for all pockets.
The perfect base from which to explore the myriad of boutiques, restaurants, pavement cafés and music bars lining the streets, the Hostal is also only a stone's throw from the Ferry terminals, from where you can catch a boat to Formentera, the nearby beaches or even mainland Spain.
The Hostal is one of 3 adjoining buildings in the Port, and one separate building located near the Fountains in the centre of Town.
Looking onto the waterfront and Carrer de Barcelona, this mid-19th-century building has all sorts of brightly coloured rooms. Pink doors with blue walls, or mauve and yellow combinations, set the tone. The rooms with harbour views are coveted.
The rooms are small, but very tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable with air conditioning. There is loads of hot water, lots of pressure and working shower heads. The rooms also have satellite TV and telephones (with alarm calls and voice mail - but the instructions are hard to come by).
This modest hostal started business in 1862. You cannot get any closer to the heart of the action. Indeed, for some tastes, it may be a trifle too close, as streams of bar-hopping punters trail by here. If you can get one of the rooms looking over the waterfront, chances of sleep improve. Rooms are bright and pretty if very simple, with terracotta floors and cheerful colour schemes. The most expensive room is a double with harbour views and a balcony. A handful of singles look onto the street.
La Marina also has an excellent if not slightly expensive restaurant at ground level, facing out onto the harbour.
The staff are very friendly and generally speak great English.
The same people run three other similar establishments in the nearby streets, but without the views over the port.
